Do you suffer from gum recession? When your gums recede, your tooth roots become exposed. A receding gumline can result in damage to the oral tissues, sensitive teeth, halitosis and inflammation. Left untreated, your exposed tooth roots can lead to tooth loss.
Gum recession can occur from a variety of factors, including:
- Aggressive tooth brushing
- Poor oral hygiene
- Gum disease
- Smoking or tobacco use
- Hormonal changes
- Genetic susceptibility
Luckily, at Herndon Smile Design, our dentist uses an amazing method to correct gum recession: the Chao Pinhole® technique. Dr. Amirreza Rafaat has received additional training to perform the Chao Pinhole technique in Herndon, Virginia. The Pinhole surgery is a minimally invasive method that is used to correct gum recession. Our dentist will create a small hole in the gums by using a needle. Using special instruments, Dr. Rafaat will then gently loosen the gum tissue, sliding it over the area where the gums have receded from their proper place.
This treatment offers immediate results and creates minimal discomfort during and after the procedure. If you have gum recession and want to see if this treatment would work for you, schedule a consultation at 703-464-0000. Our dentist and team look forward to serving you and your smile!
